Apple recalls 15in MacBook Pro laptops over battery fire risk
MacBook Pro users you are urged to stop using a limited number of machines sold between 2015 and 2017. Apple is recalling these MacBook Pro laptops over a risk of battery fire, a spokesperson for Apple announced the recall on Thursday.
If you have on of these laptops, Apple wants you to stop using the machine immediately and register it at the recall URL for battery replacement.
US bans more Chinese tech firms over national security issues
The US Commerce Department has added five more Chinese techs firms in fears they are using technology to spy on the US. This news comes days before President Trump and President Xi’s meeting next week at the G20 summit.
The notice targets Sugon—a prominent Chinese supercomputer manufacturer—along with three of its microchip subsidiaries.
In May, it added Huawei to an “entity list” of companies barred from receiving US-made components without permission from Washington, though the company was granted a 90-day reprieve.
Facebook and Google have since both announced they will move to cut off Huawei in order to comply with the US sanctions, further isolating the Chinese tech giant.
